Last year we went to NYC for the second time and again it was a great experience visiting new and exciting parts of the city. Obviously the new One world trade center was part of it and we visited the Highline. The High Line is a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. It runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th and 12th Avenues.
Besides some sightseeing we had some great drinks and food, bar54 is the highest rooftop bar in NY situated in the Hyatt on Times Square, the burger joint is a funky burger place hidden in the Parker Meridien Hotel. There are also some great restaurants in the Meatpacking District. Macelleria is a great Italian steakhouse with amazing dishes and flavour.
Finally one of our most highest ranked city trips on our wishlist came to reality in 2010 when we visited New York. We stayed in the Royalton a 5-star hotel on 44th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue. We like spacious rooms so we booked a Loft Suite and this was an excellent choice. In about 1 day the room was covered with clothes and shopping bags of all the “great bargains” my girlfriend bought. Besides the shopping we visited the must sees of New York and standing on top of the Rockefeller and Empire State building was one of the highlights, next to strolling through Central Park.
We visited New York at the end of August and beginning of September and had amazing weather (as you can see on the pics). As a genuine tourist we visited the obvious touristic locations but since we also like a good meal and cocktail we checked out some nice restaurants and rooftopbars.
One of the best Italian restaurants we’ve visited was Locanda Verde on 377 Greenwich Street. It does not happen often that I still remember what i had for dinner 2 years ago on a trip but the lamb I had there was amazing..
One of the best rooftopbars we liked was the Sky Room in the Mariott Hotel located on 330 West 40th street which was one of the highest rooftopbars located on the 33th floor. Another nice rooftopbar was Plunge in the Gansevoort Hotel located in the Meatpaking district.
Finally we finished our amazing city trip by visiting the US Open! We were even so lucky to see Roger Federer destroying some Austrian guy…and oh yeah Cameron Diaz was there too ;-))
